KSRF is happy to announce that we have joined forces with Car Program LLC of California (a donate-a-car agency) to accept vehicle donations across the country to benefit our charity. It's a win/win proposition for all: you get rid of your unwanted vehicle AND get a tax deduction out of it; and KSRF receives 70% of the proceeds as a donation to help needy Keeshonden!!!

And the process is simple! Here's how it works:

1. Contact Karen Ramsey, the Treasurer of the KSRF, via email at karen@ksrf.org
2. We will collect from you the information required to complete a Vehicle Donation Form to start the donation process, such as the VIN, year, make, model, where it is located, etc. The form is a fill-in PDF for which you need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, version 5 or above, to complete.
3. KSRF will then fax the form to Car Program LLC to get the ball rolling.
4. If Car Program LLC is unable to accept your donation for any reason, they will contact you within 24-48 hours to tell you so. If they are able to accept the donation, a towing agency will call within 4 business days to schedule an appointment for pick-up. In addition, Car Program LLC will make a customer service call to you on the 4th business day.
5. The tow driver will give you one of KSRF's donation receipts, and pick-up the car, keys, and title. You should retain the donation receipt, as it is an important document necessary for any federal tax deduction.
6. After pick-up, Car Program LLC will sell the vehicle at auction, or directly to a salvage yard (depending on the condition of the car). This normally happens within 60 days. Then, Car Program LLC remits the proceeds to KSRF as a donation.

That's all there is to it!! You make the initial contact with KSRF, provide us a little information on the vehicle, and then sit back and wait for a phone call to set up a date/time for your vehicle to be towed away. Your generosity becomes a tax deduction for you, and a donation to the Sunshine Fund to help needy Keeshonden become healthy, happy, and adoptable - so that they can be placed in a forever loving home.
